Work & Play
In our line of wedding work, cooperation between the teams of vendors is important. The wedding day is long, and we sometimes spend 10 hours or more on our feet. It may be extremely hot, and we may face severe rain or winter chills. For the team at Ashley Copeland Inc, working with vendors who have fun in the midst of stress is a key element to providing a great wedding experience. We collaborate with some amazing people who know how to take the hard work we have to do and make it a blast. But recently, the fun spilled over into our personal lives when someone on our team came up with a brilliant idea: Minions Family Movie Night!
Put together two planners, a photographer and a floral designer and Voila! You have yourself a neighborhood kids movie night. The film was projected on the side of the house, and the kids had homemade popcorn in true popcorn-styled bags, old fashioned lemonade in mason jars, and candy jars galore (someone’s child couldn’t keep his hands out of the candy jar, but I’m not naming any names).
Our floral designer, Suzanne, designed an adorable Minions chalkboard, the finishing touch on our venue, which became a major Pintrest zone.
We spread out blankets, sleeping bags, and even brought in stuffed animal chairs. Sunset was around 7:45 and the show began. There is something to be said about a bunch of kids together in the summer outside watching an animated film on the side of the house. It felt pure, and though we know they will all grow up soon, it was a joy to watch them soak in the summer in the way kids are supposed to.
What’s up next you ask? I’ll be sure to let you know when we will come up with some new creative idea that will bring our families together again. For now, it’s back to having fun helping brides bring their fairytales to life. Cheers to working and playing together!
